This Privacy Policy explains what information Lingutube collects when you use the service, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. Lingutube is operated by an individual (sole trader). By using the service you agree to this policy.

1. What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

Your name
Your email address
Your Google profile picture URL

As you use the app, we also store:

Your practice data — number of sentences practiced, daily and total counts, active days
Your learning preferences — native language group and current English level (set during onboarding)
Your subscription status and billing identifiers provided by our payment processor (Paddle)
Your login streak (current and longest)
Session data (a session cookie to keep you logged in)

We do not collect payment card details — all payment processing is handled by Paddle.

2. How we use your data

To authenticate you and keep you signed in
To display your progress, stats, and streak in the app
To determine your subscription status and grant or restrict access accordingly
To personalise your fluency goal based on your language background and level

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-party services

Lingutube uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

Google OAuth — used for sign-in. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
YouTube IFrame API — used to embed and play videos. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Paddle — used for payment processing and subscription management. Governed by Paddle's Privacy Policy.
Railway — used to host the application and database. Your data is stored on Railway's infrastructure.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. It expires after 30 days of inactivity.

The app also uses your browser's local storage to save bookmarked videos and your personal video list. This data never leaves your device.

5. Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you would like your data deleted, contact us at support@lingutube.com and we will delete it within 30 days.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

Request a copy of the data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data

7. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session cookies, and parameterised database queries to prevent injection attacks. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

Lingutube is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
